Assignment 3

Assignment:

In this assignment, you are to select and read one of the short stories found on the website under Paper #3.  These include, but there may be more than these, the following titles:

                 “The Talking Mule”

                “The Minister’s Black Veil”

                “The Candy Country”

“The Fall of the House of Usher”

Selection from Two Years before the Mast

Selection from Tales of a Wayside Inn

If you wish a print copy of your selection, please ask me via email.  The stories are both readable online and may be downloaded.

Using the elements of fiction available online, analyze the story.  Explain its theme(s), the development of character, and the use of symbols (if any), irony, setting, and imagery.  It is not necessary to cover all of these elements; however, explanation of theme(s) is important.  All other elements of fiction are used to develop and clarify the story’s theme.

Due Date:  November 24, 2015.
